Having worked extensively with SMEs throughout my career, I understand the importance of building on their unique strengths to stay competitive. While most SMEs don’t need a formal PMO, having some degree of standardisation can significantly boost project success rates. For fast-paced, innovative projects, often run with lean teams and tight budgets, this means being flexible, keeping overheads low, and reacting quickly.
The challenge? Many traditional project management methodologies are too bureaucratic and process-heavy for SME environments. That’s why I believe SMEs need a tailored, streamlined approach that works with their agility, not against it.
